Now, ward 3 has three less candidates; many contemplating to resign

Surat: Congress party is facing flak due to dissatisfaction arising in Patidar community. PAAS Patidar Andolan Reservation Committee Leader from Ward 3 Dharmesh Malviya did not fill his nomination papers till the last minute, due to which now only 119 candidates from Congress are in the fray. Moreover, at the time of withdrawal of nomination, two more candidates from the same ward withdrew their nomination papers, while many other Patel leaders are contemplating to resign.

Today, three candidates from Congress had their filed papers in ward number 3, out of which Jyoti Sojitra and Kanji Alagotar (Bharwad) has withdrawn their nominations. Payal Bodra has also said that the decision will be taken after the PAAS meeting. Now, there is only one candidate in the ward number 3. “I feel that my party has done injustice to my community. This is the reason that I am withdrawing my claim to contest the polls,” said Sojitra. She has accused former Union Minister Tushar Chaudhary, in-charge Sonal Patel and city chief Babu Raika of harming the Patel community and only looking after their own interests.

For gathering support of the Patidar Samaj, PAAS had appealed to the Congress party candidate to withdraw his candidature to support the cause.  Chandubhai Sojitra, husband of Jyotiben Sojitra, who is the city general secretary in the Congress Party has tendered her resignation. Chandubhai said that Congress has done injustice to Patidars by allocating wrong tickets in ward number 3. He also said that Alpesh Kathiria from Congress has done a lot for the society but he has been cheated by the party. “I am with Kathiria. If no decision is taken regarding this matter, then I will tender my resign, said Chandubhai.
