After the local civic elections, Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has come into action to collect revenue for this financial year, which ends in only 22 days. Getting tough against defaulters, SMC has started making special teams at the zonal level for collecting property tax. SMC has sealed 166 defaulter properties in Limbayat zone and collected whooping Rs 43 lakh in a single day.
The Schemes Department of Limbayat Zone has launched Vera Vasoolat campaign in Radhe market, Golwala market, Mahaveer market, Goodluck market, Sivasagar market, Millennium market, Silak CT market, Surat Textile market, Anupam market, Galaxy market and Jai Radhe market, all located in Ring road. In order to recover the outstanding tax, the SMC team sealed the shops and collected the money on the site itself.
A total Rs 137.96 crore of revenue has been collected from the Limbayat Zone till 8 March 2021. A long-pending drive to recover Vera has been initiated in the industrial, commercial area and the process of sealing the properties for tax collection is also being done. SMC has requested that defaulter should pay the taxes in the Zone Office or City Civic Centre soon and avoid any inconvenience.
