Rains lash Surat, south Gujarat

Surat. South Gujarat is receiving heavy rains since early morning. In the last 8 hours, Umarpada taluka of Surat district has recorded more than 7 inches of rain. Along with this, rain has been recorded in all 26 talukas of south Gujarat region.
The low pressure area developed in the Bay of Bengal on August 4 was over Orissa on 5th of August, the Indian Meteorological Department said. But very quickly this low pressure area moved over South Gujarat, North Maharashtra and South-West Madhya Pradesh. In addition, the Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation System has been activated over Nashik in Maharashtra.
Both of these systems have formed a monsoon line. Due to which heavy to very heavy rains will be recorded at some places in south Gujarat region.
Amid heavy to very heavy rains forecast, rains lashed in entire south Gujarat region since morning. After Umarpada taluka, Mangrol taluka in Surat district received more than 3 inches of rain. More than 1 inch rain has been recorded in Surat City, Kamrej and Olpad. While other talukas have received light rainfall.
All 32 talukas of south Gujarat region have recieved rains in past 24 hours. Navsari and Jalalpore recorded more than 4 inches of rains in past 24 hours. Umarpada received 3 inches, Mahuva 3 inches, Bardoli 2 inches, Charyasi 2 inches, Mandvi 2 inches, Khergam 2 inches, Vyara 2 inches, Umargam 2 inches and Dolwan 2 inches.
