For the local body elections, political parties have submitted their list of star campaigners to the Election Commission, this time BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are mainly in the election fray. BJP has once again has replaced outgoing state chief Jitu Vaghani from its list, also he has been excluded from the state parliamentary committee. In this polls, BJP is focusing on local leadership and only Union Minister Smriti Irani has been included in the campaigning list.

AAP also has approved eight leaders including Delhi Dept CM Manish Sisodia , Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, Gujarat in-charge and MLA from Delhi Gulab Singh Yadav for campaigning.

However, more than 45 leaders have found a place as the star campaigners for the Congress party, but it needs to be seen how many will be used later on.

Along with Irani, BJP has submitted the names to Election Commission, which included Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister Mansukh Mandviya, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy CM Nitin Patel, state president CR Patil and OBC leader Alpesh Thakor among others. After the losing the assembly by-elections Thakor was on the back-foot for a long time in the state politics. Veteran leader Shankar Singh Vaghela has also expressed his desire to join Congress party. To strengthen its position in the coming polls, Congress might bring back Thakor back into the party. In the last assembly elections, Thakor, Patidar leader Hardik Patel and Dalit leader and social activist Jignesh Mevani had come together to attack BJP, but after the defeat everyone chose a  different path.
