Bus service commenced with 50% passengers allowed as per government guideline; no decision yet on city buses
The city bus and BRTS bus services were halted as the transit of corona had increased in Surat. With declining numbers everyday, the city corporation has decided to commence the BRTS service on two routes.
The corporation had banned the transport service in the city and more than 200 buses were not running for some time.
ONGC bus service from Surat’s Udhana Darwaza to Sachin and Kharwarnagar will start from today. In these two routes nine buses will be operational. According to the government’s guideline, only 50% passengers will be allowed inside the bus and masks will be mandatory for all passengers. Suratis have been partially relieved by the decision to start bus service. However, no decision has been taken yet to start city bus service.
