Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has said the government plans to start a music college in Mumbai in honour of Lata Mangeshkar’s father Deenanth Mangeshkar who was a renowned composer.

Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has said the government plans to start a music college in Mumbai.
The state’s first government-owned music school shall be named Deenanth Mangeshkar to honour celebrated singer Lata Mangeshkar’s father and composer, the minister said, according to Indian Express.
Lata Mangeshkar celebrated her 91st birthday this Monday.
“The Mangeshkar family has a legacy in music. Singers and musicians will prosper under their guidance. Maharashtra state government will support their aspiration to nurture new artistes. This is a gift to Latai on her birthday from the Maha Vikas Aghadi,” said Samant.
The college will be set up under the guidance of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray, he said.
