In an important decision, the Gujarat government has announced that the class 12 board exams will be held from July 1, 2021 under conventional method, while the decision for not conducting class X examination was already decided, hence the examination fee of the students will be reimbursed.

Significantly, the academic session has been badly affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, due to which the board examination could not be conducted this year, the Gujarat government had decided to promote the students of class X in a few days, but the examination for the class 12 was yet to decided.

Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama at a press conference on Tuesday said that the class 12 examination will be conducted with old method, in which approximately 6.83 lakh students will appear. The money which were collected as examination fee will also be refunded to class 10 students. Due to mass promotion, additional class room and academic staff will be required for the class 11. Gujarat is the first state where it has been decided to conduct the board examination with the old method. A 50 marks written or offline exam will be conducted for science subjects in the MCQ OMR pattern and will be held for three hours. Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, only 20 students will be allowed to sit in a class. The COVID 19 protocol will be followed during the exam. It should be noted that a few days ago, the meeting of all the Education Minister of the state with the Minister of Human Resource Development was held to conduct the examination but no decision could be taken.
