The Congress party has shown door to Gujarat Congress women’s wing vice-president Sonal Patel on the charges of anti-party activities. Among many others, senior leader Deepak Babaria came in support of Patel. With the announcement of local body elections in the state, once again the phase of dissatisfaction has begun in the party. Angry leaders and workers are now directly challenging party’s high command.
Many women leaders including Patel and Harshaba Jadeja, President of Rajkot Mahila Congress, have accused the party of selling tickets in this election. Deepak Babaria, a member of the Congress National Working Committee, who was also in-charge of Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, wrote a letter apologising to the party workers and the leaders, who had not get the tickets. Babaria has directly accused Congress state president Amit Chavda, MP Rajeev Satav and many other leaders for irregularities in ticket distribution. He said that the time for deciding the right candidates for the local body elections was very short and in only 15 days, a list of candidates was prepared. He directly alleged that the list prepared by the party’s leaders were changed overnight and the state leaders distributed tickets to their favourite candidates. He feels that there are many flaws in the state organisation, due to which the loyal workers are ignored and party has to face defeat in the elections.
