Adhikari, who will be taking on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is expected to be accompanied by Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and actor Mithun Chakraborty
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari will file his nomination papers from Nandigram today. Unarguably one of the most prominent faces in BJP West Bengal, Adhikari, who will be taking on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is expected to be accompanied by Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and actor Mithun Chakraborty.
The presence of two union ministers at Adhikari’s nomination filing rally just underlines the significance attached by the BJP to the Nandigram seat, from where Banerjee has already filed her nomination.
The battle for Nandigram is a question of political survival for Adhikari, who has vowed to defeat Banerjee with a margin of 50,000 votes, or else, quit politics.
Suvendu Adhikari to file nomination as BJP candidate from Nandigram: Updates
– “I came to ask Didi that which daughter needs to be voted? Who thrashed an 80-yr-old woman? Who murdered BJP workers? Who doesn’t allow Durga idol immersion and Saraswati Puja? Who does Chandi Path when she comes to Nandigram and says Khela Hobe?” asks Union Min Smriti Irani in Haldia.
– I hope to receive people’s blessings. I’m confident people will support BJP & bring it for real development in West Bengal. There is no question of any competition. BJP won 18 Parliamentary seats in 2019 & it will form a strong govt this time with a huge margin: Suvendu Adhikari
– Suvendu Adhikari visited two temples in Nandigram today and is currently on his way to Haldia where he will take out a rally before filing his nomination. Union Ministers Babul Supriyo, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan to accompany him.
“I am Nandigram’s bhumiputra. She is an outsider here. I will defeat her and send her back to Kolkata,” he had said after his nomination was announced by the BJP last Saturday. While Irani is slated to hold a rally in Haldia, Chakraborty is expected to kick-start the campaign.
Adhikari’s nomination is being filed amid high-octane drama over the alleged attack on Banerjee in Nandigram. On Thursday, she spoke from the hospital and said that she will return to campaigning in two days and will do rallies from the wheelchair.
