People were shaken by the fear of this double catastrophe before the cyclone threat, the earthquake was felt far and wide. The quake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in the ISR as well as in the National Center. This is the first earthquake of such magnitude in the whole of Gujarat including Kutch.
The epicenter was reported at a depth of 3500 meters below the ground, which is believed to have caused an earthquake at ground level. However the faultline is already active in Una. Prior to this, on 20-1-2019, 38 km from Una. The epicenter was reported below the epicenter at 4.1 magnitude, however; no tsunami alert was issued.
