Surat. 231 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Surat on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 15362. Ten persons died due to COVID19 on Friday taking the total number of deaths to 668 in Surat. 356 patients suffering from COVID19 were discharged from hospitals on Friday. 11457 patients have been discharged from hospital till date.
49 years old female from Navagam in Limbayat zone died due to COVID19 at New Civil Hospital (NCH) on Friday. 40 years old man from Khajod village at Athwa zone died due to COVID19 at New Civil Hospital (NCH) on Friday. 60 years old female from Aass Pass in Limbayat zone died due to COVID19 at SMIMER Hospital on Friday.
68 years old male from Nana Varachha in Varachha A zone died due to COVID19 at New Civil Hospital (NCH) on Friday. 80 years old female from Hari Nagar in Udhna zone died due to COVID19 at New Civil Hospital (NCH) on Friday.
Surat Municipal Commissioner Banchanidhi Pani said that 183 cases have been registered in Surat city on Friday including 24 cases in Katargam zone, 16 cases in Central zone, 10 cases in Limbayat zone, 15 cases in Varachha B zone, 22 cases in Varachha A zone, 41 cases in Rander zone, 10 cases in Udhna zone and 45 cases in Athwa zone.
Pani added that 31364 persons are in Home Quarantine, while no person is in government facility quarantine. 2528 teams of Surat Municipal Corporation conducted a survey in 295484 homes and 876624 people.
Among those tested positive for COVID19 on Friday include doctors, technicians, food cart owners, hawkers, hand cart owners and small retailers. Government has given permission to start business, but small retailers are facing a dual blow, as they have to deal with COVID19 scare and bread.
